Support Contract - WintextPhone Option
Windows Text Communications with Launchpad offers some configuration options which effectively hide the computer's underlying operating system (Windows) from the user. These settings prevent access to the Windows start menu and disable other features which may lead a user into unfamiliar situations. This restricted mode capability of WintextCom is primarily intended for Braille textphone situations where the user mainly requires to be able to use the software for making and answering telephone calls, with no or limited access to other Windows applications. In such situations, hiding the operating system can be very helpful by providing access to the telephone in a simple and focussed environment, free of interference from unwanted Windows components.
Use of other Windows applications is simplified, not prohibited. It is possible to access the Internet and communicate by e-mail, for example, by starting these programs from within WintextCom.
The WintextPhone option provides these settings built into the software at the reduced price of £253.13 (£202.50 if changing from a standard version of WintextCom). It is the ideal solution for those setting up a dedicated system for a user who requires particular facilities but finds it difficult to cope with Windows as a whole. If only a textphone facility is required, you can use WintextPhone with a Freedom Scientific Braille display (Focus or PacMate portable) without a screen reader program such as JAWS for Windows being installed on the computer, which reduces the overall cost of the system by £900.
The WintextPhone option includes indefinite subscriptions to direct e-mail technical support and product upgrade support. This means that the user, or a support person, can send technical support enquiries to support@wintextware.com instead of using our online support link, and consultancy contracts are available for S.W.H.-Wintextware to provide software maintenance and training in its use. Consultancy contracts start at £250/day, with an additional distance-related travel expense.
Although customers of the WintextPhone option are entitled to free program upgrades, they are not e-mailed automatically to the user, but must be requested by the user or a support person.
Changing from a standard version of WintextCom to the WintextPhone option is free if you already subscribe to upgrade support, no additional subscription payments will be required. Changing from the WintextPhone option to standard WintextCom is also free, but subscriptions to direct e-mail technical support and product upgrade support must be purchased at the time if required, and standard terms apply.
